‘The 5 Mile Radius’ documents the lives of homosexuals in suburbia, exploring what it is like to be gay, specifically in minority areas. I have seen that within major cities, the acceptance of homosexuality is more socially accepted, there is a sense of community and pride, something that I never experienced where I was born and raised, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, where the inspiration for this ongoing series began. I will be taking you through the lives of those homosexuals living normal lives around me, interviewing and capturing their portraits, understanding and depicting their thoughts on what it's like being gay, and how it has been received within the heterosexual-dominated area, surrounding Hertfordshire.
